Marco Rubio defending himself again against claims he used to have principles

By: TDF Staff

Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio, like so many other Republicans with high ambitions, spends the majority of his days blurting our to any microphone in range of his lofty principles and ideals. Never does it ever amount to much of anything. What he says typically is contradictory to his own prior legislative votes and activities. He always ends up solidifying the view that he is a shell of the person he tried to make himself look like during that train-wreck of a presidential campaign he had a few years back.

Senator Rubio is now at it again in the wake of the push to hold William Barr in contempt for lying during his appearance last week in front of Congress. Back when the president was Barack Obama and the scandal du jour was something called Fast and Furious, Rubio seemed principled.

“I think it is outrageous that any attorney general, Republican or Democrat, refused to comply with Congress’ constitutional right to hold them accountable and the Justice Department accountable. I would say that if this was a Republican.”

JUST KIDDING!! He would not say that if this was a Republican.

When the drums stated pounding last week and Dems started calling to hold Barr in contempt for his lies, Rubio responded on Twitter by making it clear that, when he was faking principles in 2012, he was only talking about a certain kind of contempt of Congress, and a certain version of Congress’s constitutional right, and a certain subset of “accountable.”

“If like Eric Holder William Barr ever authorizes a program like #FastandFurious that gives drug dealers guns subsequently used to kill a U.S. agent, lies about it & then refuses to provide Congress information, he should resign.”

Ah, ok. It was a non-transferable deal. Only valid while Barack Obama was President. Ok, Marco. Now, please stop talking in public for a while. Be spineless in the privacy of your own home.

Seriously, Florida. Stop voting for this guy.

Donald Trump Lies… and lies… and lies.

By: TDF Editorial

Donald Trump lies. He lies with a regularity that has never been seen before in politics. His followers eat it up and Republican politicians defend it. His lying is getting worse.

The Washington Post is reporting that Trump made 5,000 “false and misleading claims” in his first 601 days in office … and his next 5,000, bringing him to 10,000, in the next 226 days.

The entire Republican Party is complicit in his lies. For the sake of our democracy and our country as a whole, he needs to be voted out of office next year.

The black guy they don’t like said something they could take out of context

Did you hear about the Easter worshippers? Those victims of the Sri Lankan terror attacks that were killed and injured while WORSHIPPING on EASTER?

“Easter worshipper” is the new tan suit. “Easter worshipper” is the new bike helmet. “Easter worshipper” is the new selfie stick.

The “false rage” people on the right do whatever they can to take and spin something to bash Barack Obama about and freak out over. It’s so old and so sad.

Nobody with two eyes and a basic concept of reason would think that by “Easter worshipper” he meant “people that worship Easter” so let it go, right wingers because your false rage is showing.

Friendly Reminder

By: TDF Editorial

Trump is a foul-mouthed bully who tried to fire the people who were investigating him and pressured his staff to lie to protect him.

His tirades against the media are transparent posturing; he knows perfectly well that the reporting he derides as “fake news” is factual.

Vote. Him. Out.

Does Kellyanne Conway have no shame!?

By: TDF Editorial

To say that yesterday was “interesting” would be an understatement. From the awkward Barr press conference prior to the release of the redacted Mueller report, to the bizarre Kellyanne Conway comment to the press where she said she and the administration would welcome “apologies”, and everything in between, it was a day that will be remembered for many reasons. At any rate, it was not a day that proved “total exoneration” for the president.

But let’s focus on Kellyanne.

Kellyanne Conway’s “fishing” for apologies is almost maddeningly ridiculous. The complete shamelessness from her shows how little she cares about her fellow Americans. Seriously, Kellyanne, Mueller named you personally for boosting Russian fake propaganda and retweeting IRA-controlled Twitter accounts! Not sure where to find this tidbit of information in the report? Well, check out pages 33 and 34. You’re welcome. Now apologize to your fellow Americans for doing that.

Robert Mueller is not our savior

By: The Daily Flash Editorial Team

As we all know, Robert Mueller released his final conclusion a few weeks back and recommended no more indictments for officials within Trump’s orbit, nor Trump himself. Perhaps we should ask if it was all worth it.

What will the release on Thursday of a partially redacted report bring? Perhaps nothing. It is hard to fathom that there will be anything in the report that will lead to any sort of “check” on the administration, and we can all but guarantee impeachment will not be something it leads to.

The fact is that everyone now has to come to terms with the fact that Trump didn’t win the 2016 election in a treasonous manner. His presidency is not an anomaly, but it is the fairly logical conclusion of social, political, and economic currents that stretch back decades.

The Mueller report should be released. It should be released without much redaction, but whether it shows criminality or malfeasance or nothing it all, we should be aware that its effect on our national political trajectory will be small — if it has any effect at all. We are at the whim of events far larger than the actions of one cartoonish chief executive. It is long past time that we realized this. Let’s do away with any thoughts or feelings that Mueller is our savior. We need to be the ones to save ourselves and 2020 is around the corner. Lets get it done.
