Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio, like so many other Republicans with high ambitions, spends the majority of his days blurting our to any microphone in range of his lofty principles and ideals. Never does it ever amount to much of anything. What he says typically is contradictory to his own prior legislative votes and activities. He always ends up solidifying the view that he is a shell of the person he tried to make himself look like during that train-wreck of a presidential campaign he had a few years back.
Senator Rubio is now at it again in the wake of the push to hold William Barr in contempt for lying during his appearance last week in front of Congress. Back when the president was Barack Obama and the scandal du jour was something called Fast and Furious, Rubio seemed principled.
“I think it is outrageous that any attorney general, Republican or Democrat, refused to comply with Congress’ constitutional right to hold them accountable and the Justice Department accountable. I would say that if this was a Republican.”
JUST KIDDING!! He would not say that if this was a Republican.
When the drums stated pounding last week and Dems started calling to hold Barr in contempt for his lies, Rubio responded on Twitter by making it clear that, when he was faking principles in 2012, he was only talking about a certain kind of contempt of Congress, and a certain version of Congress’s constitutional right, and a certain subset of “accountable.”
“If like Eric Holder William Barr ever authorizes a program like #FastandFurious that gives drug dealers guns subsequently used to kill a U.S. agent, lies about it & then refuses to provide Congress information, he should resign.”
Ah, ok. It was a non-transferable deal. Only valid while Barack Obama was President. Ok, Marco. Now, please stop talking in public for a while. Be spineless in the privacy of your own home.
Seriously, Florida. Stop voting for this guy.

As is the standard with most right-wing members of Congress, there is an obsession with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that is almost at unhealthy levels. Today we learned what was already assumed, Senator Rick Scott of Florida, the Lex Luther of US Politicians, has got a case of the AOCs and the trolling finally caused him to get owned by her.
On Monday, Scott tried to come for Ocasio-Cortez and her Green New Deal again on Twitter. Scott was initially attacking New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker’s plan to combat the nation’s rampant gun violence with a national gun licensing program, which is a tad ironic because some of the most high-profile mass shootings in history occurred under Scott’s watch in Florida.
Scott then went on to slam Ocasio-Cortez, asking if she would “make us register every time we buy meat” if the Green New Deal passes.
While the snide “meat registration” comment is right in line with the things that get the right wing based revved up, AOC was quick to let him know she wasn’t having any of it:

William Barr this morning decided to fully torch his credibility in defense of Donald Trump, joining a long line of Republicans who have done the same to their own credibility. During the Attorney General’s appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Lindsey Graham asked him “Did you have a problem with the way Comey handled the Clinton email investigation?”
“Yes, I said so at the time,” Barr responded.
He said so at the time? Barr must have forgotten the op-ed he wrote for the Washington Post on Halloween 2016 titled ”James Comey did the right thing”.
The era of Trump sure has caused so many Republicans to have selective amnesia. Vote them all out. Also, Barr needs to be held accountable for lying under oath this morning. Republicans, do the right thing and stop the “party over principle” thing that has poisoned you over the last few years.

Over the weekend, Representative Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) said in a statement that since President Donald Trump tweeted about her, she has seen an increase in the threats against her life. Speaker Pelosi (D-Calif.) has worked to get increased security for Omar and her family. We here at The Daily Flash stand with Rep. Omar against the hatred being spewed toward her.
The death threats against Rep. Omar are abhorrent and show the kind of extremism that permeates on the Right. The rage coming from the Right by people spewing spin about the supposed “extremist” from Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District is palpable. People are entitled to their own opinions, but the Anti-Omar crowd would do better if they wouldn’t be fighting this supposed “extremist” with their own extremist ways.
Calling someone a “terrorist” and then threatening to do something that would be real, actual terrorism is stupid and shows that many Trump loyalists don’t really think much before they speak. Their anti-Muslim views get in the way of logic.
